Thank You…..

Hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner but the fact that our Christmas Sale has come and gone has made us realise that Christmas seems to be creeping up on us faster than usual this year. This is just a short note of thanks to those of you who managed to make it down to our Christmas Sale last weekend. A steady stream of customers on both days ensured that it was a big success and we are happy to say that most of our sale stock has been depleted! Once again we would like to say thanks for your continued support in our products and look forward to seeing you all again at our Lavender Harvest Sale in summer of 2012.

Our Christmas Sale.....

Our Annual Christmas Sale will take place this year on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December from 11.00am – 4.00pm on both days at our premises in County Wicklow.

This year we hope that the weather does not cause too much disruption as we had to defer it last year due to very heavy snowfalls. We don’t think it is going to snow as it isn’t cold enough but you just never know in Ireland what pattern the weather will take from day to day.

If you are in the area around this time, please drop in to see us and to see what is on offer. You won’t be disappointed! In addition to our wonderful perfumes, soaps, bath etc. we will also have some lovely scented wheat and lavender cushions, Christmas decoration sets, room diffusers etc..etc. A great opportunity to stock up on Christmas pressies for your loved ones and at great prices too.

Looking forward to seeing you all there….it is very well signposted along the way – just follow our posters and take next turn left after Avoca in Kilmacanogue.

FOI Website and IDI Annual Awards…

Recently we were very pleased to learn from Adrian Crilly at Crilly & Wardell Consultants, our website designers, that the Fragrances of Ireland website had been shortlisted  for an award at the 13th Annual IDI (Institute of Designers in Ireland) Awards. The IDI Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the excellent standard of design achieved by designers on the island of Ireland for 2010 – 2011 and an opportunity for the IDI to promote this standard to a commercial audience.

We were one of five websites chosen to compete for the top award for Multimedia Web Design. We did not win the award but was commended by the panel of judges. A great achievement for us as a company to be included among the best design in Ireland!

Fragrances of Ireland are very proud to have also been previously associated with the industry awards when ‘Inis – the energy of the sea’ was shortlisted in the inaugural Irish design awards thirteen years ago!

 Breast Cancer Awareness....

Just a word of thanks to fans of Inis Arose who supported us in our recent campaign in acknowledgement of October Breast Cancer Awareness month. We had promised that for every bottle of Inis Arose purchased on-line during the month of October, we would contribute  €1 from each sale to the Irish Cancer Society to help them with their research into breast cancer.

So thank you to those of you who supported our appeal and we have sent on a cheque to the Society as a result of your generosity, to help fund research into this very worthwhile and lifesaving cause.

Review Section.....

I am sure you are wondering about the new ‘Reviews’ tab which has appeared under the ‘News’ section page. Why not click on it now to see what the professional online bloggers have been saying about our fragrances. Well worth a read, especially if you are on two minds as to which fragrance you wish to buy. It’s always good to get other people’s opinions before purchasing. Or if you already have your favourite fragrance its still interesting to find out what other people think about it too.

Just click on ‘Read Review….’ under 'Review' tab to get some feedback.

And - on a general note, always good to browse the beauty blogs anyway to get some invaluable beauty tips and reviews.

 Happy reading guys………!!

Autumn is here.....

We are a bit mixed up with our seasons here in Ireland at the moment! Despite the fact that Autumn has officially arrived and we are three quarters way into the month of September and the countryside is awash with autumnal colours of rusts, yellows and reds, our weather forecasters have promised us a heatwave this week of up to 25 degrees in some areas!!??! Not the kind of temperatures we are used to for our Autumn season at all! Perhaps we are finally getting our summer heat having experienced historically low summer temperatures this year. However I don’t think we should hold our breath on this one!!!

To celebrate the onset of Autumn we are offering our customers, FREE Shipping on ALL our products until the end of the month. One fragrance typically suited to this time of year is our very popular Caru EDT. If you haven't tried it already, believe me, it is one to savour  With a blend of summer and autumnal fruits evoking rich aromas of harvests and the last blooms of summer scenting the breeze it is definitely a winner and especially for this time of the year. Why not try it today and experience the wonderous scents of our Autumn season firsthand…..

Whale Watch Feedback.....

The Annual Whale Watch event in conjunction with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group took place on Sunday, 21st August last. As Inis is a core sponsor of the event we were very interested to see how it all went and happily we got the news first hand from Barbara who had been invited, courtesy of the IWDG ( on an organised boat trip on board the IWDG RV Celtic Mist to Loop Head to whale watch on the day.

Apart from braving the elements and feeling slightly sea-sick along the way she, along with her mum and sister had a very enjoyable day and were delighted to report sightings of several dolphins who appeared to enjoy their company by accompanying their boat and creating entertainment for the spectators by jumping and racing and splashing about. At one point there was a suspected sighting of a whale which caused lots of excitement. Here are some photos below from Whale Watch day - A very worthwhile event and one which Inis is very proud to sponsor…

Inis on Chinese TV...

Take a look at the following  - this is a recent  broadcast  on a large Chinese TV network. This network has 40 cable stations in the US alone - plus in Europe and Asia. It is the first 'free speech' Chinese television network ever. Click on the link and approx 40 seconds into the footage you can see Karen talking about our Inis Cologne at the recent Extracts New York trade fair. We are all delighted here in Fragrances of Ireland to see our Inis Cologne being familiarised in places as far away as China and Asia.独特! 258;然引领纽约国际礼Ø 97;展.html#video

Lavender Sale - A Success

Our recent Lavender Harvest Sale was a great success. Held over two weekends there was a steady stream of people coming and going both Saturdays & Sundays. We even had some people call to the office during that week to purchase some of our items on offer. As a result of the public interest we hope to be in a position to make the sale bigger and better and longer in duration next Summer. The Lavender plants themselves went down a treat, as did our lavender oil, bunches of lavender, lavender books and our very own lavender shower gels, soaps, hand creams etc.

We were also delighted to welcome a very important visitor to our sale – Mr. Sean Gallagher from the Dragon's Den and nominee for the forthcoming Irish Presidency election, graced our premises on the second weekend. He was very impressed with what we had on offer and commented in a later email to David that he was very interested in hearing all about Fragrances of Ireland and that he had enjoyed the sense of calm in our courtyard as a result of the wonderful fragrant lavender.

So Sean, we appreciate you taking the time to visit us last week and we wish you every success with your Presidency campaign. With your pro-enterprise stance you are certainly a front runner for our votes here in Fragrances of Ireland!

Lavender Harvest...

We have been busy this week with our Lavender Harvest. Our colleague Rodz has been harvesting rows and rows of wonderfully scented lavender plants from 'Our Field of Dreams' for distillation and for making bunches of lavender for our forthcoming Lavender Harvest Sale on Sat 16th & Sun 17th and Sat 23rd & Sun 24th (scroll down to get more details).

Lavender Harvest Sale...

It’s almost that time of year again where the summer is upon us and the Lavender Harvest is about to take place. The wonderful scent of lavender wafting through the air in Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow is devine and to celebrate this yearly event we hold our Lavender Harvest Sale at our premises across the road from our lavender field. Already we have had several queries from eager lavender enthusiasts as to when it is going to take place so if you haven’t already visited us at this time of year, why not try to pay us a visit this July.

Customers can purchase our normal stocks of bath and soap products along with our fragrances and can choose from fresh lavender plants, pretty bunches of lavender, crisp white linen bags filled with dried lavender and our very own lavender oil to name but a few and this year we plan to have some beautiful books on lavender where you can learn all about this wonderful plant and its myriad of uses.

So take a look at the poster below and put the date in your diary for what promises to be a lavender filled summertime event…….fingers crossed for some lovely sunshine to make the whole occasion just perfect…!!

Staff Trek up Little Sugarloaf Mountain……..

We have had some beautiful weather for this time of year here in County Wicklow and as we have all been feeling energised as a result, we decided to take a leaf out of David’s book recently and climb to the top of a mountain!! The Little Sugarloaf Mountain here in County Wicklow to be precise……

David loves spending his lunch hours recharging the batteries by climbing the Little Sugarloaf, so no prize for guessing who managed to reach the summit before the rest of us??  We didn’t do too badly though and despite the last few yards being fairly tough, the breathtaking views across the bay right out as far as Howth in North Dublin and as far south as Wicklow town were well worth the trek!!! If we keep this one up, we will soon be the fittest & healthiest work force here in County Wicklow...!!

Wonderful Week for Ireland......

Life has been so exciting for us all here in Ireland over the past few weeks or so. May 2011 will certainly be remembered for generations to come; HRH Queen Elizabeth II visited Ireland, the first British Monarch to do so in 100 years and US President Obama (of the Moneygall Obama’s) came to the Emerald Isle to find his roots and partake of a pint of the black stuff – all in the same week! It has been quite a time for us all and it has become an immense source of pride how well things went.

Here at Fragrances of Ireland, apart from enjoying all the visiting celebrations we have been busy preparing for Inis the energy of the sea to be sold in Japan. This is an exciting venture and reminds us of the incredible popularity of Inis. Hence we are all looking forward to the launch. As a result of the anticipation of the Inis launch in Japan we have asked you our subscribers to tell us your 'Inis story' and what Inis means to you - some of these inspiring stories have been added to our review section and are well worth a read. In the meantime we will keep you posted on our 'Japanese' venture.....

Self Help Africa......

Recently in New York, Self Help Africa organized an event in honour of working women in Africa where they presented their campaign, a campaign to petition for fairness and justice for Africa's women farmers

The event, which was a huge success, was held in the garden area of the United Nations building in New York and Fragrances of Ireland were honoured to be involved in a very small way by having our Inis perfume on display there. Gemma (in the attached photos) set up our display outside the main event and met with guests as they arrived, where she introduced them to our range of products including our Inis perfume. At the end of the event and as guests left they each received a goodie bag which contained among other things one of our Inis samples. Fragrances of Ireland were delighted to be involved in such an event and to have the opportunity to have create more awareness of our fragrances internationally.

Sunshine all the way…

Ireland, surprisingly enough & for a change, has had a beautiful week of uplifting sunshine…a million miles away from the harsh winter we have just experienced. Very easy to get up early on mornings like this, even if it does mean that you have to head to work. At Fragrances however, we have been maximising our time outdoors by having our coffee breaks in the glorious sunshine. On the one hand it's hard to get back into work mode afterwards but on the other hand you feel rejuvenated and motivated to tackle any work task. Our MD, David, has also taken to climbing the Little Sugarloaf Mountain near our offices during lunchtime. Whether to keep fit, or to be inspired by the breathtaking views, we do not know, but yesterday he came back to tell us that he thought a deer crossing in front of him was interesting wildlife until the attached crossed the road in front of him on the way down….!! Very interesting wildlife around County Wicklow indeed!!

St. Patrick's Day...

St. Patrick's Day was well celebrated in Ireland yesterday despite our economic problems and the sun shone down on us all which made the day even more special. In fact, today is a gloriously sunny day here too in County Wicklow, so time to leave the harsh Winter behind and get out and enjoy the sunshine...!

While we basked in sunshine over here, David and Barbara flew Stateside for the annual taking part in the St. Patrick's Day Show on QVC. David pitched our Patrick Cologne for men, a firm favourite with our customers but very apt to present on St. Patrick's Day in keeping the namesake! Barbara introduced our new Inis Moonlight fragrance which will be available for sale to the general public sometime in April. Another edition to the Inis family, this wonderful EDP is inspired by the joy and wonder felt by spending time by the ocean. Already it is proving very popular with QVC customers!

So we are keeping busy here in Fragrances with you all in mind and creating some wonderful new products especially for you. Another range which will be coming on stream in the near future is our Nua Nautanicals Skincare Range. The serum and face cream are made with organic ingredients such as aloe vera and argan and both products are free from synthetic fragrances and artificial colours and contains mostly natural ingredients. We are all loving testing it out here in the office and excited knowing that you will love it too. So ... watch this space everyone - not long until you are able to get your hands on this fabulous new skin care range to try out for yourselves!!!

Inis Moonlight

New Products

Twelve days into the new year and we are all working like busy bees here in Fragrances! Next week our biggest trade show of the year - Showcase Ireland - is taking place in Dublin. We participate in this event every year where national and international buyers visit and where we exhibit our current product ranges along with those we are hoping to launch during the year. A great opportunity to show potential customers what we have been working on the previous year and what we have in the pipeline for the coming year.

Our new 'Sonas' Eau de Toilette is actually being launched at Showcase. Sonas is the Irish word for happiness - the name was chosen for this EDT as it was such a pleasure to create. This EDT is a wonderful unique blend of oils including natural oils of lavender, orange, basil, ylang ylang and balsam. We are currently awaiting delivery of sample vials for this fragrance so if anyone would like to try it out please send your details to mail@perfume.ieand we would be delighted to send you a sample when they arrive.

We will also be launching our new Inis Moonlight fragrance to the Irish market in April. A beautifully delicate eau de parfum, its watery accord gently blends with mandarin and peach, melting into a floral heart of rose and jasmine, Inis Moonlight has warmth and depth yet is wonderfully light, almost like a gossamer shawl. If anybody is interested in sampling this wonderful new fragrance also please feel free to email mail@perfume.ieand we will send you a sample vial to try out.

We are always delighted to get your feedback & comments on our products, especially our new ones, email us atmail@perfume.ieor follow us on Facebook or Twitter (just click on icons below). Your comments are always greatly appreciated.

Happy New Year.....

We would like to wish all our loyal customers a very happy and prosperous New Year and hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Our offices re-opened today after the Christmas break and the scene was a very different one to the one we left on December 23rd last. This time everything looks green again and colour prevails around, gone is the white curtain of snow covering everything and as far as the eye could see! Lets hope it stays that way because we have had our fair share of snowy weather this winter to last us a while. I don't think Irish people will be as eager in the future to dream of a white Christmas because this year we got just that - along with severe travel disruption, school closures, frozen pipes etc..etc. On the positive side though the whole countryside looked stunningly beautiful and many kids and adults alike made the most of the winter wonderland and enjoyed the hill sleighing and building of snowmen.

So now its back to work we go - and another year to commence. It is good to get the opportunity to make a fresh start and although we are always committed to bringing you the best in customer service and wonderful premium products we plan to push even further and go that extra mile this year to give you a bigger and better experience with Fragrances of Ireland.

Best wishes to everyone for 2011!!!

Merry Christmas......

We would like to wish all our customers a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year.

Our offices will be closed on Friday, 24th December and will reopen again on Tuesday, 4th January 2011.

For all urgent queries etc. during this time please call (087) 256 7864 or email:

Happy Christmas from all at Fragrances of Ireland

Our Christmas Warehouse Sale which was scheduled to take place late Nov/early Dec was rescheduled for last weekend 11th & 12th December and we experienced a steady stream of Christmas shoppers despite the weather conditions. As you know, for the past two weeks Kilmacanogue and Ireland in general has experienced heavy snowfalls and here in Fragrances we spent a lot of time shovelling away the snow to make way for our customers!!

Although beautiful to look at on the first day or two, it can become disruptive to everyday life and dangerous to pedestrians & drivers, so thankfully, it has more or less melted now but weather reports claim that by the end of the week Ireland could be under a blanket of snow, once again, for the third time this year. (first time was in February!!!) Who knows we may have that White Christmas yet that we all dream of.....

Take a look at some of the images below taken here at Fragances and in and around Kilmacanogue, to remind us of our recent Winter Wonderland.

Monday, 20th September......

Despite almost being one month into the Autumn season, Ireland is still experiencing some beautiful weather for this time of year. Blue skies & sunshine, (a little chillier in the mornings and evenings however!) all contribute to making the vivid autumnal colours of the countryside very easy on the eye and easy to appreciate before facing into the Winter ahead.

Here at Fragrances we are still busy working on new products. Our newest product, our Inis solid cologne - beautifully encased in a silver sea-shell compact, will be coming on-stream very shortly. This will also be available to buy via our website. We are putting the finishing touches to our Christmas gift sets too - hard to believe, that in no time at all, they will be out there on the shelves as well.

On a completely different subject - all of us here in Fragrances of Ireland would like to congratulate our local hero Katie Taylor who won her third lightweight women's World Boxing title in Barbados over the weekend. It is very inspiring to see an Irish person become a worldwide success in their field and even better to acknowledge that that person lives locally and right on our doorstep!! Well done Katie, fingers crossed that you will bring home to Ireland, the gold medal for Womens Boxing in the 2012 Olympics!!!!!

Venice Biennale.....

The 12th Annual International Architectural Exhibition is currently taking place in Venice, Italy. Since 1895, the Venice Biennale remains the leading showcase for contemporary art. It takes place once every two years and includes an international art exhibition, an architecture exhibition with exhibits from different countries including Ireland, and festivals of music, dance, and theater, as well as the Venice Film Festival.

I am sure you are wondering why Fragrances of Ireland could in any way be involved with the above but recently we were delighted to be asked by de Paor Architects, (an Irish firm, who had been invited by the Japanese Director of the Biennale to explore the theme 'People meet in Architecture' and create their own understanding of the theme) to supply some of our own lavender oil which they would use in their architectural exhibit for the show. De Paor built a folly of pleated linen and lavendered softwood, called '4am' and by using our lavender oil in their project created a wonderfully scented ambience for visitors to the exhibit. Our own MD, David had the pleasure of recently visiting the Show to see de Paor's creation first hand.

Take a look at the images below - It is quite difficult to capture the creation on camera but the entire exhibit is covered in white linen, and scented with lavender thus creating a calm, peaceful and contemporary ambience.

Whale Watch Ireland 2010....

The recent Whale Watch Ireland took place on August 22nd and, as Inis - energy of the sea cologne is one of the main sponsors for the event, we at Fragrances of Ireland were very interested to hear about the day.

Fortunately for the majority of the fifteen designated land-based whale watches the weather was glorious which added to the atmosphere of the day. The event now in its 9th year was attended by c 1,475 whale watchers and visitors alike, the main objective being to raise awareness of the 24 species of cetaceans (whales and dolphins) recorded in Irish waters, and to promote their conservation, by encouraging participation in the IWDG sightings and strandings schemes. Those attending at many of the sites were provided with "expert" interpretation by IWDG personnel who have vast experience regarding cetaceans, their ecology, biology and the conservation threats facing these marine mammals.

Here at Fragrances of Ireland we would like you, our extended global family around the world to join in our celebrations. From now until St. Patricks Day we would be delighted to hear your stories and see photos if you have them, of how you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in your part of the world. All participants will receive a set of our nine fragrance sample vials by post – free of charge - and will automatically be entered into a draw to take place after St. Patrick’s Day. The winner of the draw will receive a mixed hamper of Fragrances of Ireland perfumes and toiletries. Please send your entry Don’t forget to put your name and full address on your entry so that we can post your samples to you.

Inis sponsored Whale Watch Bottle nose dolphins off Bray Co. Wicklow

Harbour porpoise, bottlenose dolphin and common dolphins, and minke whale were spotted at different locations. The image above is one of three bottlenose dolphins who have been seen practically on a daily basis since 11th August last in the sea off Bray Head in County Wicklow. Also seen were 3 cetacean species at 1 site, 2 species at 2 sites, 1 species at 6 sites, and no sightings were recorded at 6 sites. All in all a very successful day for the IWDG and for those who attended! If you wish to learn more about these wonderful sea creatures log on to for further information.
